Met department predicts heavy rainfall for Tamil Nadu in next 24 hours,waterlogging woes continue in Chennai.


Chennai:- A day after heavy showers, there was some respite from rains in Tamil Nadu onTuesday.However,water-logging affected normal life in parts of the state.


In,Chennai,normal life in parts of Vyasarpadi, Otteri, Tiruvotriyur in North Chennai and Velachery and Madipakkam in South Chennai was disrupted.

Civic authorities said action was being taken to clear inundation by using water-pumps.

De-silting work was on in the Adyar river mouth and in several other locations of the river in the city, including Egmore, authorities said, PTI reported.

Several parts of the state were lashed by heavy rains yesterday. One person was killed yesterday in Thanjavur district when the mud wall of his hut collapsed under the rain impact.

Chennai collector Thiru V Anbuselvan yesterday evening had declared a holiday for all schools in the city on Tuesday.


Met predicts heavy rainfall for Chennai in next 24 hours:

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Meteorological Department on Tuesday warned of heavy rainfall at a few places in the state in the next twenty four hours.

'In 24 hours, heavy rainfall is expected in few places in north coastal region, while heavy to very heavy rainfall in south coastal region,' said Met official S Balachandran, as per ANI.
