A temple like Jagannath of Puri will be built in London, land is being searched in Greater London.

A temple of Lord Jagannath is being built in Orissa Society of UK, London. This temple will be very similar to the Jagannath temple in Orissa. Jagannath Puri is one of the four dhams of the Sanatan tradition. Govardhan Math is one of the four peethas established by Shankaracharya. Jagannath devotees from all over the world are being connected by creating a trust for the temple.

The cost of the temple is around 40 40 million (about Rs 40 crore), which will be raised through donations. Land is currently being sought in Greater London. The Orissa Society of the UK recently announced this at its annual festival. The design of the temple will be the same as the Puri temple.
Society members have joined only people living in Britain for initial expenses. The Society plans to involve Oriya people from all over the world and devotees of Lord Jagannath in the trust created for the construction of the temple.
The temple will be built in 10 to 12 acres: -
In Greater London, the Society is exploring 10 to 12 acres of land, which will have the original form of the temple, as well as items associated with Oriya culture. The Society has also taken guidance in this regard from Puri Shankaracharya Jagatguru Swami Nishchalananda Saraswati. The UK Society discussed with Shankaracharya via video-conference and also sought his advice on temple construction.

The society plans to start construction of the temple soon and complete it by 2024 anyway. Although there is already a Jagannath temple in London, it is small and now the society wants to spread the traditions of Orissa called Jagannath culture all over the world. It will be built not just as a temple, but as a center of Orissa civilization.

More than 200 temples in Britain:
Britain is one of the countries in the world with the largest number of Hindu temples. At present the number of Hindu temples located in Britain is around 210. Greater London, where the Jagannath Temple is proposed to be built, also has about 35 temples. Several large groups including ISKCON Swaminarayan Sampradaya, Ramakrishna Mission have built temples here.
