The state held elections to 8 assembly seats during the Koro period. But local government elections were postponed due to the transition. Local elections are now expected to be held around January 21. These elections can be held in two phases like last term.
In the first phase elections will be held for Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar-M6 Municipal Corporations and in the second phase for 81 Municipalities, 31 District Panchayats and 231 Taluka Panchayats. It is learned that preparations have started for the entire election process to be completed before the end of February.
