A huge fire has broken out in a furniture godown at Shreeji Estate near Gota on Ahmedabad's SG Highway. As many as 12 vehicles of the fire brigade have been dispatched to the spot. Top fire officials have also reached the spot and started efforts to control the fire. The fire is more prevalent due to the fire in the furniture. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

The government took a big decision on
fire safety in October last year. An important decision was taken by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in October 2020 to protect the lives and property of the people from fire due to strict implementation of fire safety in the state. NOC of fire safety for every high rise building, high rise building, commercial complex, school, college-hospital, industrial units in the state. Obtaining and renewing every six months is mandatory. The state government will allow private young engineers to practice as fire safety officers after the required training for this purpose. Every landlord, occupier, factory owner can get NOC from such fire safety officer. It has to be obtained and renewed every six months. Narol and Vatva GIDC area of the city were raided on January 18 by Sector 2 police in Ahmedabad city following the use of fire safety and use of illegal chemicals in factories in Vatva GIDC. Vatva and Vatva were investigated in 10 to 15 factories today with GIDC PI, 10 PSI and about 75 policemen.

A search operation was launched in the factories located in Vatva GIDC area for illegal storage and consumption of chemicals as well as fire safety. Which was investigated by the police.
