People have been harassed in the same way for a while after this incident. But after running 35 km in reverse, the train somehow stopped near Khatima Yard. Fortunately no passengers were harmed in this shocking incident. News of the incident reached the locals at the time of the countdown. People also recorded a video of the train running in reverse on their phones. After the train stopped, the railways sent all the passengers to Tanakpur by bus.

According to the information received, the driver suddenly braked to save the cattle moving on the track. This caused some technical faults in the train which suddenly braked and the train started running reverse. The railway department has also launched an investigation to find out the reasons behind the reverse running train.

Loco-pilot and guard suspended

Railways has immediately suspended loco-pilot and train guard. Information about the incident was shared by North Eastern Railway through a post on social media. He wrote, "The incident took place on 17/03/2021 between Khatima-Tanakpur section due to cattle due to which the train stopped safely some distance away from Khatima yard. Not a single coach of the train derailed and all the passengers were safely escorted to Tanakpur. "The loco-pilot and the guard have been suspended.
