New Delhi. Prime Minister Modi will today launch a new platform for the country's honest taxpayers, 'Transparent Taxation - Honoring the Honest'. In the meantime, he can also announce many gifts for the honest taxpayer. It is being speculated that the Prime Minister may announce the implementation of the Taxpayers Charter.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced the introduction of the Taxpayers Charter in the last budget. Last week, he also hinted at the speedy implementation of the charter. The ministry said the CBDT has taken several steps to bring transparency in the functioning of the income tax department.

What is a Taxpayers Charter?
According to chartered accountant Kirti Joshi, the purpose of the taxpayers' charter is to increase trust between taxpayers and the income tax department, reduce the difficulty of taxpayers and determine the responsibilities of officials. Currently only three countries in the world - the United States, Canada, and Australia. The taxpayers' charter of these three countries includes 3 main points.

1. To consider the taxpayer honest
Unless it is proven that the taxpayer has committed tax evasion or embezzlement, he should be treated as an honest taxpayer and respected.

2. Timely service
To solve the problem of taxpayers quickly. If an immediate solution to a problem is not possible, arrange for a solution within a fixed timeline.

3. Verification before command
Giving taxpayers the opportunity to check before issuing an order against them, so that the loss order does not pass.

It is also possible to announce the implementation of faceless assessment across the country
CA Atul Kumar Gupta, President, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, said that the ICI has from time to time issued instructions to the Finance Ministry on faceless assessment. Currently, it is being implemented in 18 cities as a pilot project. Assessments up to the level of Income Tax Officer are faceless.
