Kerala on Tuesday sought a Rs 2,600 crore special package from the Center even as the state struggled to find its feet after the devastating deluge that killed 373 people since May 30 and forced 10 lakh people out of their homes.Over 54.11 lakh people in Kerala have been affected in the floods of which 12.47 lakh inmates have taken shelter in 5,645 relief camps since May 30.

The National Disaster Response Force has deployed 59 teams and 207 boats, the army has deployed 23 teams and 104 boats, the navy has deployed 94 teams for the rescue and relief operations. 

The Coast Guard has deployed 36 teams, 49 boats, two helicopters, 23 fixed wing helicopters, two fixed wing aircraft and 27 hired boats.

The Air Force has deployed 22 helicopters, 23 fixed wing aircraft while the Central Reserve Police Force has deployed 10 teams and the Border Security Force has deployed three company comprising 300 personnel.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan chaired a meeting of the State Cabinet, which decided to seek a special package from the Center for the Centrally-sponsored schemes including the latter's flagship rural employment program MNREGS.Vijayan said a special session of the assembly was convened on August 30 to discuss the situation, the worst in the century.

Vijayan said Kerala will also ask the Center to increase the limit of loan for the massive rebuilding exercise after 13 of the state's 14 districts are savaged by floods, traumatising people and devastating its infrastructure.

The Chief Minister had earlier said the state had suffered damages of about Rs 20,000 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and two other union ministers have agreed for the interim assistance of Rs 680 crore for the state.

Vijayan said the United Arab Emirates has promised an aid of Rs 700 crore for the state's reconstruction!!.

The government and defense force said the person was brought to safety. Over 1.63 lakh people were rescued in the last five days alone..

The Minister also thanked the National Dairy Development Board for providing the huge quantities of tetra pack milk and public sector oil companies which came together and gave them Rs 25 crore to the Kerala chief minister for flood relief.

Apart from a pre-payment invoice, users can now also verify the merchants through the QR codes. “It notifies the user with information to ascertain whether the merchant is verified UPI merchant or not. This provides an additional security to the QR as well as intent. Transactions are processed faster as app passcode is not required in case of signed intent. It also negates the chances of QR tampering. Customers will be informed in case the receiver is not secured by way of notifications".


• Overdraft facility :

UPI now allows customers to link their overdraft account to the digital platform. The latest feature is in addition to the existing facility of linking current and savings accounts.

“Customers will be able to transact instantly and all benefits associated with OD account shall be made available to the users. UPI 2.0 will serve as an additional digital channel to access OD account".

• Invoice in the inbox :

customers can check the invoice before making a payment to the merchant. NPCI says the facility will help users view and verify the credibility of the merchants before making any transaction.

• One Time Mandate :

This facility enables users to create a pre-authorise a transaction and pay at a later date. The feature is available for both merchants and customers.

 The mandate can be created and executed instantly while the money will be received by the merchants on the date of actual purchase.

The smartphone was announced globally at an event in Madrid, Spain on 24 July, so we do know what to expect from the device. 

The Mi A2 will likely be available in two variants, a 4 GB RAM and 32/64 GB internal storage variant and a more expensive 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant. Globally the Mi A2 was announced in three colours gold,blue and black..

The A2 features a 5.99-inch full HD Plus display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, and runs Android One out-of-the-box. It has a fingerprint sensor at the rear and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC with an AI Engine.

The Mi A2 sports a dual-camera setup at the back, which consists of a combination of a 12 MP primary camera unit and a 20 MP secondary camera unit, both with a f/1.75 aperture.

Plane crashed in Switzerland and 20 people are died..

Three Austrians and 17 Swiss were on board the trimotor JU-52 aircraft, built in the late 1930s as a military aircraft and later used to operate scenic and charter flights, when it crashed shortly before 5 p.m.on Saturday on the west side of the Piz Segnas mountain in the canton of Grissons.Plane had been returning from Locarno near Switzerland's southern border.

Police said those killed were couples from the Swiss cantons of Zurich, Thurgau, Lucerne, Schwyz, Zug and Vaud, along with a three-member family from Austria and three crew members from Thurgau and Zurich.

The investigation, complicated by the vintage plane's lack of a "black box" flight recorder, will take several days.

"Yesterday was the worst day in the 36-year history of JU-Air," the airline's Chief Executive Kurt Waldmeier said at a news conference in nearby Flims on Sunday. "We have all suffered a very great loss."

One can ascertain that the aircraft hit the ground nearly vertically at high speed, Daniel Knecht, who heads the aviation division of the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board, said.

New feature from WhatsApp lets know about it..

WhatsApp has  confirmed that a group video calling feature will be rolling out later this year, and it looks like beta-testing for same appears to have gone live for some users.

 WhatsApp iOS build 2.18.52 and Android beta version 2.18.145+ seem to have the group calls feature live, but this is limited to a select few users and not everyone will see it live yet.

This appears to be a limited roll out and only a select few will see the feature, even if they are on the correct build of WhatsApp, be it on iOS or Android.

So how can a user check if WhatsApp Group video calling is live for them? 

-}  Just do a normal call and check if a new button appears which has the option for “Add participant”. If it does, users will be able to add others to the video call. 

We could not see the group video calling feature live on either iOS or the Android beta version on our phones.

Given this appears to be a limited rollout, it will take some time to appear for most users. 

WhatsApp group call feature will allow four participants in the call, this including the person who starts the call..
