Wasim Shah, the creator of this igloo, says the idea to build this cafe came to me when I was on a visit to Switzerland. There I saw a coffee restaurant made of ice. It was then that I decided to set up a similar cafe for tourists in Gulmarg. Wasim initially built a small igloo in his home. People praised him a lot. He then built a large igloo in Gulmarg and started building a cafe.

Wasim further said that it took 15 employees 15 days to build this igloo. Employees have built this igloo in two shifts. The igloo has to be shaped like a brick by pressing the ice. Then the bricks have to be arranged like normal bricks, but only ice is used instead of cement. The chairs and tables in the cafe are also made of ice. The cafe has 4 tables and can comfortably seat 16 people. Coming to this igloo, people get a sense of the lifestyle of the ancient people who live in igloo in snowy areas.
